Our Garden (If you can call it that)

Emilie has been begging me to plant a garden. Since we are renting I decided to get a couple of planters pots and plant a few things. She was so excited. In her little pot we planted some sweet peas and then I bought a cherry tomato plant for the bigger pot. She loved doing it and has been looking after it every day. We planted it last Monday for FHE and I explained it would take a while for it to grow. I said that they probably wont come up until after church on Sunday. Thinking that that will be about a week and that gives her a time frame. Well she took it literally. 'When we go to church and get home then my garden will grow' is what she would say. Well......she went and checked right after church on Sunday and there was 1 Pea Plant poking through and 3 others by the end of the day. She was so excited to see progress and I was so excited that my time frame did not let her down, literally. So here are some pics to document our little gardening adventures.
Here are the plants together (Pay close attention to the top of the tomato plant...lol)
Emilie with our SWEET garden
And now the sad part of the story...Easton was outside playing and thought it would be fun to pick the leaves off the tomato plant. And it just had to be the top part which was blooming and had about 8 buds on it. BUMMER. We were so sad but it was our fault for keeping it at his level. So I am hoping others will grow but we will have to wait to find out I guess.
Here is proof of Emilie's Peas.
I love that she is so excited about her garden. It has been a lot of fun doing it with her. We are so lucky to have our adopted Grandma and Grandpa Vandyke out here who shares their garden with us. They grow some yummy strawberries (that we have already tasted and they are the best strawberries ever), blueberries (which are Emilie's fav), peaches, cherries, gooseberries, raspberries, and lots of veggies. We love going over and picking stuff out of the garden and Emilie hangs out around the blueberry trees the entire time.
The next few pictures are about or bowling adventures last week. We have 1 dollar Wednesdays at our bowling ally here and when Daniel gets out early on those days we go take advantage of the sweet deal. Well last Wednesday Daniel, our buddy Josh and I went bowling. We played 2 games and it was 7 dollars total with shoes and everything. (that totally doesn't add up but that's what the guy charges us every time...lol) Well lets just say I dominated this time. I beat Daniel TWICE and Josh ONCE. I played very good and got my best score yet. Anyways, I had to take pictures to document the day because I know Daniel would never admit it or ever give me the credit if I didn't have proof. Kind of like that time I beat Daniel, Clayton, and Lex in Mesquite. Oh ya!!!!! I had that one printed off. ha ha. Anyways, good times!
P.S. I'm loving the new 'updated editor' it makes posting a PLEASURE.

Going Private for a week or so....

So I have had this Crazy Lady commenting on my blog. Ever since 'All Things Thrifty' featured me I have had like 500 hits and some nosey people. This Crazy Lady felt the need to basically call me racist and leave stupid comments because she was offended that I assumed it was 2 black boys who stole my stuff. (WHICH IT WAS...LOL) Anyways, my posts are really none of her business so I decided to go private for a week or so to stop the crazy lady. I have already invited everyone in my email list...but I know there are many others. So if you know them just inform them of the situation and or have them email me at gilbergfamily@hotmail.com. Thanks :)

Easton Walks & Emilies New Basketball Hoop!

I just realized I have totally forgot to post that Easton can walk. LAME. He has been walking with is walker toy for like 3 or more months now and just hasn't been too anxious to go off on his own. But at 13 months he took his first few steps without holding onto anything. And now he walks all over. Emilie is one spoiled granddaughter. Grandpa and Grandma Bartlett sent Emilie her very own basketball hoop. She was so excited and has been playing with it ever since.
She also thinks its a swing for her babies.
Here she is rocking her back and forth.
~Video Overload: For the Grandparents~

These were all done before Daniel got home from class. He instantly taught her how to shoot it RIGHT. She does really well and has been having a great time with it.
And Last...Brooke featured me at all things thrifty yesterday...Thought you all might like to know. :) I have been doing Prom Up-Do's all day, missed my hubby and kids, and now I'm checking out for the night. YAY.

5K & Mothers Day

Well let me just start by saying that it has been sooooooooo nice having Daniel around more. I love it and we have done so many family things together. It has been a lot of fun. We have been hanging out with friends, said goodbye to friends who graduated and are counting down the days till we get to move home. 7 months from today to be exact and possibly earlier. This last weekend Daniel and I ran the Grundy 5K. We had a good time and it was a fun race. We pushed the kids in the stroller. Daniel pushed for probably 2/3rds of the time and I pushed for about 1/3rd. And it was a lot harder than us just running on the treadmill because we had to push them uphill and also when we were running against the wind it was like pushing a brick wall. But we did really well. Our time would have definitely been better if we didn't have the kids but we didn't have much of a choice so we made it work. Daniel and I just stuck together and had a fun time running. (These pictures are from my phone and they turned out great except for the family one, the lady taking it was having a hard time figuring out how to take it I guess, oh well)
This was Easton after the race. We kept feeding the kids snacks so they would be good. Easton had granola bar all over him. The kids were great troopers.

And the awards....ha ha kind of embarrassing. But we finished together and I took 2nd in my age group and Daniel took 3rd in his. Which is pretty sad for all those other men out there who didn't finish before us. lol. I am so mad though cause this one girl passed us right at the end and I had a feeling she might be in my age group and she was....lol so she got first and I got second. I just keep telling myself that I would have got first if I wasn't pushing the kids. ha ha yes I am that competitive.
Now MOTHERS DAY. Daniel and the kids did so good this year. I wasn't expecting anything really but on Saturday and Sunday Daniel got up with the kids and let me sleep in a bit. Then after the run on Saturday he decided to take the family out to a 3d movie. So we went and saw How to Train a Dragon. It was cute, and as fun as it gets taking kids to movies. ha ha. Easton was crawling all over the gross floors and stairs. Emilie's glasses were too big so she watched half the movie with out them (blurry) and she ate so much junk that she was sick and had major diarrhea after. But we had a great time and it was something to do.
Sunday morning Daniel and the kids made me breakfast in bed and gave me a gift certificate for a massage at the local salon. I always LOVE massages :) I had a great weekend with my family and was proud of Daniel. He did a good job. It's funny though cause I was like totally expecting my kids to just be soo good. It's mothers day....right. Well they don't really understand because they were like the worst at church that day. lol. That's what I get for thinking my 3 & 1 year old would be perfect all day.
And last this is a picture that Emilie drew. She is getting better at drawing things that actually look like something. Although she said this was of me, I probably really look like that some days I guess.

UPDATE!!!

*If you haven't read the post below you probably want to read about that before reading this*
So I recieved a call this morning from the investigator...dun, dun, dun.... And he asked if we could come down to the police department to retrieve our DVD player and he wasn't sure about the ipod. I couldn't believe it. I thought for sure the stuff was gone for good. So the whole family headed down there, and we got BOTH items back. YAY!!! The DVD player and ipod. There were a lot of other items there as well (computer, projector, guns, knives, phones) and he said a lot of it has been claimed already. It was one of the black boys who we had suspected who had been walking through our yard. He is in jail for the gun possession right now but will be charged with grand larceny for many things along with much more. He was holding onto the things for personal use but then was planning on selling them, I guess he also has a marijuana problem, go figure. He deleted all our songs and play lists off the ipod, but he didn't fill it with his music either....so I figure we are just lucky it hadn't been sold yet. Ever since I knew someone was breaking into my car I had felt so violated almost, I was scared the last 2 nights, thinking who is in my yard, car, looking through my windows maybe. I have set my home alarm, and just was scared for some reason. I am so glad this kid is going to pay for the things he has done, I really hope that he learns from this. I'm sure his family life is sucky and insecure which makes you feel bad for kids in that situation. But there is no good reason for crime, and I hope he can learn from this and become better. He is only 16, I hope he can chose to turn his life around. Anyways, so there is our big break in the case, with a happy ending...I just had to call Mark (my father in-law) up and tell him that cops really do know how to do their job....(sometimes). j/k....just a joke good buddy...10/4 checkin out, checkin out.
